Grande Provence chef wins Sunday Times award

At the prestigious "Sunday Times Chef of the Year Awards", Peter Tempelhoff - Executive Chef at Grande Provence Estate, Franschhoek, was voted the impressive title of "Chef of the Year".

"What a fantastic honour to have competed against Mathew and Rudi who are such talented chefs, even getting to the finals was huge for me. It’s also a great feeling to be involved in and win a competition like this, after less than a year back from London. I really think the Sunday Times Chef of the Year Competition will become the benchmark for all others, a lot of thanks goes to them and their organisation," stated Tempelhoff.

Designer of the competitions, Chairman of the Sunday Times Food Show Council and judge Gwynne Conlyn stated, "Although the final points of the three finalists were close, it was clear that the dishes produced by Tempelhoff were what awards are made of. The judges felt that in the elements we most often look for – technical skill, visual appeal, texture combinations and taste - were not only the work of a highly skilled, thoughtful chef, but were also almost faultless."
