SA Wine Industry Trust snubs parliament

Parliament's standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) has threatened to subpoena the cash-strapped SA Wine Industry Trust (Sawit) following the entity's failure to honour a scheduled Wednesday meeting with the watchdog body.

"We are going to write a letter to them again, bearing in mind we have the power to subpoena them," Scopa Chairman Themba Godi said on Wednesday.

Scopa had invited Sawit so that the entity could explain its financial woes to the Parliamentary watchdog body.
