I am surprised no one posted this.

Robert Mondavi Dies at Age of 94
A Napa Icon has left us. Robert Mondavi passed away at 9:00am on May 16th at his home in Yountville, Calif. at the age of 94.
As reported by James Laube and Wine Spectator. “Robert Mondavi, was a visionary winemaker and brilliant marketer who helped lead California wine into international prominence”.
Outspoken, energetic and charismatic, Mondavi was one of the most influential and admired winemakers in California history. He was the driving force behind his namesake winery in Napa Valley, which he established in 1966 and which for years was the most famous winery in California, until it was sold in 2004. His long career spanned eight decades.
Wine Spectator online has a nice article if your interested.
